We’re now just a block away from the World Trade Center and the closer we get to ‘ground zero’ the harder it is to breathe and to see.

Practically in tandem with Jim Axelrod did Rehema Ellis use the term “Ground Zero” in her news report on September 11.
“Orange Alert is a play that touches upon a universal theme. The story is about people living in a heightened state of uncertainty. And there’s nothing more human than that.”
- Stephen Girasuolo
Playwright/Orange Alert
Ground Zero is the setting and backdrop for Stephen Girasuolo’s play Orange Alert, but the story is less about 9/ 11 and the surrounding events of that day - rather a reflection of the human experience. Girasuolo eloquently coins the phrase “…a heightened state of uncertainty” to describe an emotion, thought or life experience that everyone encounters - time and time again.
Thus the play aims at touching upon a universal theme about the human experience of which all audiences may identify.
